SIMPLE OLD BARN

                                              SIMPLE OLD BARN
                                                  Nancy Herman
                                                        6" x 8"

To be in nature, when it is tamed and safe, is probably one of the most soothing experiences.  This stately old barn from the 1700's adds to the serenity with its simple lines.
A portion of the proceeds of this painting will be donated to the Lower Merion Conservancy.

I like the juxtaposition of "man" and 'nature" in this painting: not only the simple line and color of the barn but also the relatively manicured landscape posed next to the mighty looming tree and background of ever threatening forest . The manufactured whole seems ready to be subsumed in a moment by the wildness of nature.
I love the drama of it all contained in this small canvas.
