REFECTIONS IN A BLUE NIGHT

These are the reflections from the light over my hospital bed in the window looking out into the blue night.  Develish to paint, but I could not resist the way the light sliced into the buildings and held them together.

I've got to tell you, I think this painting is marvelous. The glare from the interior light at first seems to out of place on top of the street scene until you realize what it is, and then it really conveys the "inside-looking-out" effect. Maybe I don't see enough paintings to know if this effect is common, but I've never seen it before. Congratulations, this is very effective and well executed.

Thank you Jim. I don't know if it is a common effect or not myself.

It actually reminds me strongly of a period when I visited a friend in the hospital fairly frequently. Inside the hospital room and outside were like two different worlds.

Yes, it is one of the things you think about a lot when you are hospitalized.

This is superb.

I found this after a laborious search to prove to a friend of mine that it is possible to paint this very thing - images on both sides of glass simultaneously. Very impressive :)
