HAWAII

You're absolutely right this is not anywhere near Merion.  In fact it is in Hawaii.  No, I have not changed my position on travel. Instead I have found the perfect solution for me.  Google street view.  While surfing the net a couple of days ago I found a site called THE VIRTUAL PAINTOUT.  There artists are invited to use google street view to find a spot and paint it.  Each month there is a diferent spot chosen and this month it is Hawaii.
I had a great time looking for a spot that had a palm tree and I could infuse with a lot of saturated paint, as I imagine Hawaii to be very colorful.  I have been all over the coasts of Hawaii, through preserves, looking at beautiful mountains, volcanic hot spots and beach scenes.  What fun!  If all goes well you will be able to click the title and go to the spot I painted and from there you will be able to travel anywhere you want in the world - well not everywhere, but enough places to keep you traveling for as long as your sense of 'virtual' adventure lasts.

Your link works so I saw your spot and think you did a great job - much improved upon the original, I must say.
I also followed your link to, and have been exploring the Virtual Paintout site, but I don't see your painting over there on the Hawaii page.(?)

Thank you A. Decker. The painting is finally there today. Try the link again. I think it would be a good idea for them to publish all the links to see what people were working from.

Yes. I checked again and found it. Way to go! Yours is one of the better entries.
My oil method is too slow to make it for this month. Maybe a watercolor, if I hurry...

I asked Bill that very question, about publishing the links. He said, "I don't post the URL's on the blog because that's something else I would need to verify that's working correctly after I post each work of art. This month is slow due to summer outdoor time, but the past few have been well over 100 submissions each month (and still at least 25% are not submitted correctly). I need to keep it simple on my end to continue to host the project. I DO ENCOURAGE EACH ARTIST, since they have the link anyway, to post it on their respective blogs or websites."

I see his point. We don't want him so swamped that he can't do his own very fine artwork, do we? ;-)

This makes sense. Moderating a blog like this could be a full time job.
